James "Jammer" Joseph Hower
October 5, 1927 – December 29, 2018

James "Jammer" Joseph Hower, 91, formerly of Ossian, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Lutheran Life Villages. He was born October 5, 1927 in Ossian, Indiana to the late Harry B. and Blanche (Pierce) Hower. He retired from REMC in 1996 and additionally worked as an electrician in the Ossian community for many years. He was also a member of the Ossian Fire Department for over 61 years. Jim was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion. He was very active in the German Heritage Group, having ran the dance floor during many events. He loved being part of the Ossian community and even served as Past Grand Marshall of the Ossian Days Parade. Surviving are his grandson, Matthew James Hower of Bluffton; seven nieces; one nephew, and one great niece. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Kathleen (Fosnight) Hower in 2002; daughter, Amy Sue Hower; and nine brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 6:00 PM at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill Street, Ossian, IN 46777 with visitation starting at 3:00 PM.
