ABERNETHY, Frances Ann Dodd "GiGi," born May 3, 1922 in Mt. Sterling Kentucky, passed peacefully and gracefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 7, 2011. Ann was a professional dancer who married a touring musician/comedian and left the stage to become a selfless, loving and enduring wife, mother and witness for Jesus Christ. Remaining here to cherish her memory is her husband of 62 years, Charles Pascal "Pat" Abernethy of Henrico; her brother, Gilbert Dodd of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; her daughter, Susan Abernethy Lucas and her husband, Chris, of Chesterfield; her son, David Abernethy and his wife, Annie, of Richmond; five grandchildren, Andrea Lucas Wade of Raleigh, North Carolina, Lindsey Lucas and Justin, Dylan and Micah Abernethy; and two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Lucas Wade. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Rd. A funeral service to celebrate Ann's life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 3601 Monument Ave., Richmond, Va. 23230, where Ann was a member for 43 years.
