Sevino Joseph 'Mo' Mozzochi Died June 7, 2014. Sevino was born in Little Italy, New York City, NY on September 22, 1913, to Louis Mozzochi and Francesca Apizzi Mozzochi who immigrated from Ciregna, Northern Italy traveled through Ellis Island to be married in New York City. At the age of five, the family moved to Deep River, CT from NY. Sevino has two sisters, Mary Trabucci (deceased) and Gloria Niebler of Deep River, and six brothers, Attilo, Albert, Gary, George (deceased); and Raymond, and Paul of Deep River. Atillo and he drove home in the historical 1938 category 3 “Long Island Express” hurricane that devastated Long Island and Connecticut (there weren't any warnings of the storm). As an adult Sevino was a foreman and welder for Sight Light Corp., where he welded lights for submarines. He witnessed the great depression of the 1930s. On Memorial Day, he was drafted by the U.S. Army and called to active duty on June 14, 1943. Sevino served three years and then re-enlisted in 1946. He served 30 years, including in the Military Police, Counter Intelligence Corps, Adjutant Services and as a unit Personnel Technician. He spent 11 years overseas, stationed in Austria, Italy, Germany, Korea, Japan, Greenland, and Vietnam. Domestically he was stationed in Arkansas, Virginia, California and Hawaii. He served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam, receiving two bronze medals, retiring as Chief Warrant Officer IV in 1973. Sevino was affiliated with many Masonic organizations: member of Temple Lodge #755 F. & A. M., Fort Smith AR 1958; Past Patron Lei Lehua Chapter #6, O.E.S., Wahiawa, HI, 1986-87; Past Patron Nellis Custis Chapeter 169, O.E.S., Springfield, VA, 1989-90 and 1998-99; Past Worshipful Master of Spring Lodge #217, F. & A. M., Springfield, VA, 1997; Member of the Scottish Rite Temple; Member of the Kena Temple A. A. O. N. H. S.; Lei Lehua Assembly #3 International Order of Rainbow Girls Rainbow Dad, 1970-1980. He was also a charter member of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, Springfield, VA. He married Alice Irene Clancy Mozzochi (deceased 1999), has two daughters Frances Bouffard and son-in-law Brian of Washington, VA, and Betty Clewis of Flint Hill, VA, granddaughters Nita Irene Marie Clewis of Front Royal, VA, and Austin Bouffard of Roanoke, VA; grandson Adam Bouffard of Alexandria, VA; great grandson Tristan Scott Charles Richards of Frankford, Del and great granddaughter Jennifer Buono of Daytona, Florida. In 1999, he moved to live with Frances and Brian in Washington, VA. He was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and vividly remembered attending games where Babe Ruth and other historical players became giants in the sport. A patriot, officer, beloved father, husband and brother—”I loved serving my country and being in the U.S. Army, it was an honor.” Sevino expressed with great fondness at his 100th birthday celebration.
