Jon Eric Almarode, 57, of Steeles Tavern went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at his home.
Born August 28, 1960 in Staunton, he was the son of Madeline (Hewitt) Almarode and the late George Thomas Almarode.
Jon was a man of strong character and deep faith. He owned and operated Draft Feed for over 20 years and the Market at Draft. Jon was also a rancher and horseman.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his loving wife of not nearly enough years, Denise Thelma Lou Marshall; son, Cody Almarode and wife, Brittney of Mint Spring; stepchildren, Anne Owen, Michael Owen and wife, Sonya and Jonathan Owen and wife, Christi all of Richmond; four grandchildren; siblings, Tom Almarode and wife, Connie of Stuarts Draft, Karen Maddox and husband, Neil of Harrisonburg, Mike Almarode of Greenville, Scott Almarode of Staunton and Kevin Almarode and wife, Marsha of Barren Ridge; brothers-in-law, Bruce Marshall and wife, Paige of Oakridge, TN and Allen Marshall and wife, Candayce of Chester, VA; good friend, Verick Wiles of Mint Spring; as well as 20 nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Old Providence Church, 1005 Spottswood Road, Steeles Tavern, with Pastor Rob Spencer and Rev. Patrick Malphrus officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway.
