Obituary of Thelma Marie Anderson
Staunton Thelma Marie Cowger Anderson, 91,of 374 Hermitage Road, passed away at 11:00 PM Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Augusta Health. She was born May 31, 1920 at Hacker Valley, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Orie and Hazel Alkire Cowger. She was a graduate of Webster Spring High School in West Virginia and Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, West Virginia. She was active in 4-H as a member and leader in West Virginia, was a member of Annex United Methodist Church in Staunton and retired after 32 years as a school teacher, having taught in Webster Co., West Virginia and Geneva, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald M. Anderson, her second husband, Paul F. (Andy) Anderson, an infant daughter, Phyllis Kay Anderson, three sisters, Phyllis, Maxine and Eunice Cowger, two brothers, Herman and Radman Cowger and a foster sister Junie Alkire. Survivors include a son, Jim Anderson and wife Janice Ruth of Geneva, Ohio, a daughter, Janice Enricco Patriarco and husband Dale of Staunton, a step-son, Donald Boggs and wife Donna, five grandchildren, three step grandsons and twelve great-grandchildren, a sister, Martha Spring of California and a brother William C. Cowger of North Carolina. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 17, 2012 at Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman Street, Genenva, Ohio with Pastor Shirley Deemer of Geneva Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family wishes to give special thanks to her caregivers Mandy Enricco, Dale Patriarco, Jody and staff of Legacy Hospice. Memorial donations may be made to Legacy Hospice, 675 Peter Jefferson Highway, Charlottesville, Virginia 22911.
