Obituary of Richard Clarence Wampler
Richard Clarence Wampler, 88, passed peacefully Wednesday June 20, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born March 4, 1930, he was a son of the late John Earl and Gladys Coiner Wampler. Richard was a lifelong resident of the New Hope community and was known and loved by many. He lived his entire life in Augusta County and was a graduate of New Hope High School. He was employed at the former Rexnord Industries in Stuarts Draft before retiring. Rich was a member of the New Hope Ruritans, New Hope United Methodist Church and a volunteer warden for the US Forestry Service. He loved agriculture, farming and gardening. Richard is survived by his wife of 66 years Ruth Wood Wampler. He is also survived by a son, Richard C. Wampler, Jr. of New Hope; four daughters, Pamela Childress (Steve Henderson) of Waynesboro, Ruth Ann Beaghan of Staunton, Vickie Hunter (Howard) of King George, and Teresa Neff (Andy) of Richmond; 11 grandchildren, Jaclyn (Blake) Bergeron, Sean and Tara Beaghan, Kelli (Chris) Kneisel, Michael Childress, Sherry Hunter, Naomi (Jonathan) Struebel, Melissa (Jake) Wheeler, Matthew (Alana) Hunter, Andrea Neff, Christopher (Lauren) Neff; 10 great-grandchildren, Lillian and Samuel Bergeron, Noelle and Dylan Kneisel, Jace and Wesley Struebel, Wyatt, Leoni and Logan Wheeler, and Alexandra Neff; two sisters; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. The family will receive friends 6-8:00 PM, Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave. The casket will be closed. A Graveside service will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Augusta Memorial Park with Howard Hunter officiating. A reception will follow at New Hope United Methodist Church in New Hope.
