Obituary of Claudia L. Lynskey
Claudia Marie Lawrence Lynskey, 74, was born in Morehead City, NC and went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on Feb. 19, 2021 after a long, valiant fight against cancer. She told her husband of 55 years and 11 months, James E. Lynskey II, that she was ready to see Jesus in the week prior to leaving this earth. She was unable to attend church in person due to treatments, but invited everyone she talked with to visit her church. In her honor and memory, we, her family, would like to invite everyone reading this to visit Sharon Baptist Church at 2625 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23666. Claudia was dedicated to serving ARMY personnel in Military Pay for 39 years and 8 months at Ft. Eustis. She loved the work and the soldiers she served. She loved riding her motorcycle with the custom tag "MAMAHA", and never gave up on being able to ride again. She loved watching nature, the birds and squirrels around her home. Christmas was her favorite holiday, celebrating the birth of Christ with her family surrounding her every year. Claudia was a pillar of strength for our family. She was a stickler for correct grammar and spelling, which earned her a Scholarship in Smyrna High School, and would hand us the dictionary if we asked how to spell a word. She would listen and give advice, even if we didn't want it. Claudia was a "Mom" to many that entered our home. They know who they are and also know that she loved, cared, worried and prayed for all of you. She chose to move to Virginia instead of going to college. She began working and met her husband Jan 31, 1965 and married March 1, 1965. Claudia was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, her brother, Bradley Lawrence and by her grandson, Lance Brewer. Those left behind to honor her memory are her husband, James E. Lynskey II; Erina Lynskey, her "favorite daughter", and fiancé, Anthony Huscha Jr.; Jonathan Lynskey, her "favorite son"; grandchildren, Desireé Goins, Shannon Lynskey and wife, Anjaneth Contreras-Lynskey, and Aidan Lynskey; great-granddaughter, Aspen Lynskey; sister, Kris Oglesby and husband, Mickey Oglesby; brothers, Gregory Lawrence and wife, Nancy and Jeffrey Lawrence and wife, Debbie; and MANY family members including brother and sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Sharon Baptist Church on Friday, February 26 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, February 27 at 9:30 AM with a service to follow. Our family would also like to thank the nurses and doctors at Sentara Careplex and Virginia Oncology Associates for being with her throughout her fight.
