Katherine Vaughan Martin

Katherine Vaughan Martin, 86, a lifelong resident of Williamsburg, passed away on February 25, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo T. and Mattie Vaughan; her siblings, Elizabeth V. Mingus, Jack T. Vaughan, Virginia V. Wallace, and Barbara V. West; as well as her high school sweetheart and the father of her children, Lester Eugene Martin, who she will be reunited with. Katherine was the office manager for Williamsburg Merchants, and retired after 49 years of service on May 12, 2017. She loved her work, and remained employed full-time until she was 82 years old. She was also a member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church. Above all else, she cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her sons, Lester Eugene Martin Jr. (Frank Stertz) and Douglas Gary Martin (Andrea); daughter, Diana Martin Williams (Douglas); grandchildren, Casey Thrift, Kyle Mcallister, Gary Allen Gaines, Brett Martin, Brooke Martin, Lane Thompson, and Kimberly Tooley; six great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Joyce Robertson and Margaret Salyer. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 16 at Williamsburg Memorial Park, 130 King William Drive, Williamsburg.
