Murphy Funeral Homes

W. Frances Rembert, age 92, of Alexandria, Virginia passed away on Monday, March 15th 2021 after a series of illnesses. She grew up in Fairfax, Virginia on a small family farm. She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1945. Frances (or Fran or Frannie, as her family called her) then moved to Arlington, Virginia where she began a long career with the C&P Telephone Co (Verizon). She met and married Navy Veteran Samuel Harley Rembert, Jr in August of 1951, who also began a career at C&P and unfortunately predeceased her in 1981. Frances was the daughter of Elmer Odell Blevins and Mayme Blanche Barker, born in April 1928, one of a total of 13 children! She is survived by two sisters, Edith Marie Bibb and Lois Ann Elliott, as well as many nieces and nephews and their children. Frances spent her retired years enjoying sewing, crafting, reading, and playing her organ. She also loved to spend time taking care of her yard and growing flowers, as well as watching and feeding the many birds and squirrels that visited her yard. She leaves behind her daughter, Donna Lynn Rainsberger, and son, Ronald Harley Rembert, three grandchildren, Tara Lynn Pitts, Charles Edward Rainsberger, and Michael James Rainsberger, five living great grandchildren, Noah Phoenix Pitts, Ethan Nicholas Pitts, Gabriel Sebastian Rainsberger, Julian Pierce Rainsberger, and Karina Elise Rainsberger, and was predeceased by our special grandson, Christian Samuel Pitts. Services will be held on Saturday, March 27 at 10:30 AM at Murphy Funeral Home at 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22203. Frances will be interred at National Memorial Park afterwards at 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. In lieu of flowers, memorials to pancreatic cancer research at the American Cancer Society or others, or Capital Caring Hospice would be suggested. We will always remember her bright personality and love for children, and will miss her very much.
