IN THE CARE OF
Alexander Funeral Home-East Chapel
Carolyn Schwentker Daus passed peacefully into the Lord’s presence at her home in Evansville, Indiana, on March 23, 2021 at the age of 92.
She was married to John Daus, Jr. for 54 years before his passing in 2004. He was her true love from the age of 14 first coming over to her house on his bicycle to ask her out on their first date. They continued dating throughout high school and college.
Carolyn graduated from Bosse High School and continued her education at DePauw University, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.
She married John Daus, Jr. on December 29, 1949 at St. Lucas Church. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Junior League of Evansville. Carolyn also enjoyed spending many a day playing bridge with her beloved Bridge Club friends in Vero Beach, FL., and Bay View, MI. In addition, she and John traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe.
Along with Mom, we as a family are so grateful for the love and care that Mary Clark, Roger Curtis, and Connie Bishop gave over the years and the emotional support and tender loving care from the special ladies at Home Instead. They all loved our Mom deeply!
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, James & Adele Schwentker, her husband John Daus, Jr., and her brother Jim Schwentker.
She is survived by her 3 daughters: Lisa Imbler (Marty), Sarah Rieser (Bruce), and Carrie Mogavero (Pete); 7 grandchildren: Geoff Soelter (Melissa), Robert Soelter, Katelin Rieser, Christen Mogavero Schmitt (Alex), Caroline Mogavero Silliven (Kyle), Anne Mogavero, and Brad Mogavero; 5 great-grandchildren: Quin Soelter, Gavin Soelter, and Ethan Soelter, Maren Silliven, and Joseph Schmitt, and by brother, John Schwentker (Jean) & sister-in-law, Joann Schwentker, and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm followed by a service at noon officiated by Rev. Kevin Fleming. A private family burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or your favorite charity.
