Roy Meredith Swartz Jr.

Roy Meredith Swartz, Jr. age 94, of Beech Grove, passed away on March 24, 2021. He was born on October 29, 1926 in Indianapolis to the late Roy Meredith Swartz, Sr. and Katherine Swartz. Roy graduated from Southport High School. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army from 1944 until 1946. Roy was the owner of Roy Swartz Sand and Gravel. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church for many years. Most recently he was a member of St. Jude Parish. Roy enjoyed bowling in the Holy Name Bowling League. His greatest passion was attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Roy is survived by wife, Dorine Groomer Swartz; children, Mary Ann (Jerry) Hubbs, Sandy (Gary) Clark and Pete (Ronda) Swartz; stepson, Robert Frederick; grandchildren, Christian Duncan, Erin Duncan Turk, Michael Hubbs, Danielle Swartz Luecke, Nicholas Hubbs, Carrie Swartz Horton, Katie Swartz, Luke Swartz and Lucy Swartz; great grandchildren, Grant Duncan, Lauren Turk, Roy Shrout, Taylor Turk, Reagan Turk, Willow Hubbs, Farah Luecke and Walker Hubbs; sister, Suzanne Wells; and many nieces and nephews. Roy was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Norma Williams Swartz; son, Steven Swartz; grandson, J.P. Swartz; parents; and siblings, Mary Margaret Wilkins and Jack Swartz. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at Holy Name Catholic Church, 89 N 17th Ave, Beech Grove, IN 46107. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00AM also at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
