IN THE CARE OF

Lois JoAnn Holden, 92, passed peacefully on March 26, 2021 with her loving granddaughter by her side.
Lois was born in Cleveland, Ohio on Februray 2, 1929 to Ruldolph Metter and Joanna Schonauer Metter. She married Henry Raymond Holden Jr. in 1948 and was an exceptional woman and a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Lois enjoyed entertaining her family and friends with songs of love and humor. She would fondly read stories and poems to all that listened. She most enjoyed gatherings with her family and friends whether in their homes to play games or during her travels. Lois is preceded in her journey to be with her Lord by her loving husband, parents, and sister, Jeanne McDonald.
Left with many memories to cherish are her sons, James M. Holden, Timothy R. Holden (Myrna), Mark W. Holden (Joyce); daughter JoAnn M. Powell (Herb); eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers William Metter (Pat) and Larry Metter (Barb); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois and her family extend a special "thank you" to her caregivers Emma, Gloria, Linda and the wonderful team at Comfort Care.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm, Wednesday, March 31, at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A service will follow after visitation at the funeral home with the burial proceeding to Rosewood Memorial Park.
