ANN "MIMI" SANDERSON, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and under the compassionate care of the Parkview Hospice team on March 29, 2021 in Fort Wayne. Born in Van Wert, OH, Ann was the only child of George and Velma Edens. She graduated from South Side High School in 1957 and Indiana University, where she studied Speech and Hearing Therapy, in 1961. Ann loved to support local organizations like the Junior League, the Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University, the Fort Wayne Museum of Art and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, among others. Most importantly, she will be remembered as a loving, compassionate Mother who did her very best to instill in her children a healthy sense of self-worth and respect for all living things.
Surviving are Ann's three children, John (Becky) Sanderson, Chris (Sally Heller) Sanderson, and Jill (Jake) Cox; her six grandchildren, Lauren, Rachel, Gabby, Ella, Camilla, and Caroline; and her beloved four-legged friend, Copper.
Visitation is at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 on Tuesday, April 6th at D.O. McComb & Sons Lake Avenue Funeral Home. Private burial for family will be at Covenanter Cemetery in Fremont, IN.
The family requests that Memorial contributions be made to Linda Richter, Ann's good friend, confidant, loyal supporter and dog groomer, who has tended to Ann's beloved four-legged friends (Cinder, Sassy and Copper) for nearly three decades. Checks may be made out to Linda Richter and sent to DO McCombs, 1140 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Alternatively, donations can be made to the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.
