Laurene Molz-D'Angelo

May 24, 1956April 1, 2021
MOLZ, Laurene Lacy, passed away in Richmond, Virginia on April 1, 2021. Born in Brooklyn, New York on May 24, 1956, Laurene spent the first 63 years of her life in the Empire State before retiring to Richmond in 2020 to be near her son Jonathan. After being unexpectedly widowed at the age of 39 with two young boys, Laurene immediately sprang into action and dedicated the next 25 years to making sure her sons, Joseph and Jonathan, were taken care of both while she was here, and long after she is gone. Laurene took evening classes to obtain a Master's in Social Work and worked for Child Protective Services for 20 years, where the welfare of children was her professional passion. Laurene rarely afforded herself the opportunity to relax, instead choosing to forge ahead for her boys without pause for vacation or days off. When she did take a rare break, Laurene loved the company of her Jack Russell Terriers, reading, crocheting and feeling sunshine. In her final years she found her greatest tranquility in taking car rides to various spots along the water, where she was in awe of the ocean. Laurene was blessed and thrilled to have two grandchildren, Madison and Aiden, whom she loved dearly. After her boys grew up, seeing and hearing from her grandchildren became the highlight of her life. Laurene is survived by her husband of 21 years, Thomas D'Angelo; sons, Joseph and Jonathan; daughter-in-law, Erika; grandchildren, Madison and Aiden; and Jack Russells, Bella and Zack. Laurene was predeceased by her husband of 18 years, Joseph Molz (1954 to 1996); and parents, Robert William Lacy (1920 to 1988) and Rosemary Bayer Lacy (1927 to 1975).
