Mark Alan Smith

Mark Alan Smith, 61 years of age passed away on April 7, 2021. He was born on March 19, 1960 in New Albany to Charles and Mary Jo Smith. Mark was a 1978 graduate from New Albany High School, retired as a Lieutenant Colonel with 28 years in the Indiana Army National Guard and was a 40 year employee with Raque Food Systems. He was a member of American Legion Post 332 in Milltown, Vice Precinct Committeeman of Whiskey Run Township, President of New Albany Officers Club, and lifetime member of National Guard Association of Indiana. Mark enjoyed working on his dad’s old truck, riding on the train, canning salsa, loved his wife and was proud of his children. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Smith, and sister, Kathy Farnsley. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donna Abbott Smith; children, Katy Smith, Chase Smith; mother, Mary Jo Smith. Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday April 14, 2021 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150. His funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday in the funeral home chapel with burial and military honors at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
