Alton Eugene "Sonny" Blackwell, Sr.

Alton Eugene “Sonny” Blackwell, Sr., 80, of Stuarts Draft passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021. Born October 9, 1940 in Augusta County, he was the son of the late Alvin Eugene and Margaret Walker (Sutherland) Blackwell. On November 1, 2007 he married Anne Kay Harris. The two shared a blessed marriage of 13 years. Sonny worked in the floor sanding business with his father until they sold the business where he continued to work for 22 years. He was also employed by Kathy’s Restaurant where he worked as a host for 20 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cheryl Lynn Blackwell. Survivors include his wife, Anne Kay (Harris) Blackwell; sister, Sherby (Blackwell) Cary and husband, Glenn; son, Alton Eugene Blackwell, Jr. and wife, Teresa; daughters, Margaret Ann (Blackwell) Rocco, Kristy Bryant, and Whitney Ashley Blackwell; granddaughters, Sarah, Kaila, and Natalie; stepchildren, Tony Wolfe, Curtis Lee Bradley, and Lisa Kay Bodkin; and step-grandchildren, Lisa, C.J., Toby, C.D. and Cody. Following cremation, there will be no formal viewing or services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Stuarts Draft.
