IN THE CARE OF

Murphy Funeral Homes

David was born on November 13, 1943 at Columbia Hospital for Women, Washington, D.C., to Olene and Vernon Robinson. He was raised in Arlington Virginia, attending St. Mark's EUB(later Methodist) and attending Washington–Lee High School. While there he rowed crew, and he graduated in 1961. Then he was drafted and served in Vietnam. On returning from duty, he attended Ben Franklin University and graduated in 1973. His first marriage ended in divorce. He was married for 45 years to Lynn Robinson. His sons, Taylor and James, were his delight. He coached them in baseball, and was the president of of the Arlington Little League for several years. After his knees were replaced, he took up golf. He was a member of Andrews Air Force Base Golf Club. He began his work years by working for Riggs bank so he could play baseball on their team. Later he and his dad owned and operated Lane's Mower Service in Arlington until it closed in 1986. He then worked for several different lawn and garden supply dealers. Finally, he worked for Old Virginia Tobacco Company ending as manager of the Seven Corners store. He retired a few years ago and enjoyed sitting in his yard reading a book and smoking a cigar. He also enjoyed watching sports on his 2 tvs, and playing golf regularly. And he loved dogs. He almost always had a dog at home starting with Ranger (in his youth) to Pawnee just a couple of year ago. He is survived by his granddogs, Percy and Rozwell. Because of Dave's work ensuring all children who wanted to play baseball could, and given the fact that he did not want flowers at his funeral, the family is asking that those who wish to honor Dave's life to contribute to the Dave Robinson Little League Scholarship Fund. The link to donate is found on the web page of Arlington Little League.
