Obituary of Lewis E. Brown
Lewis Eugene (Gene) Brown, 79 of Stafford passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Sentara Medical Center. Gene was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He served in both the US Army and US Navy and after his military service, he worked as a truck driver until he retired. Gene remained an avid Alabama Football (Roll Tide) fan and Dodgers fan his entire life. Gene, until his later years, enjoyed participating in bowling leagues. He grew up in a time when vinyl records had everyone dancing to music and maintained his love of listening to his records. Gene enjoyed seeing pictures and videos of his great grandchildren and his goal was to get better so he could sit outside and watch them play. Gene was a man that would give you the shirt off his back and his kindness to others was a tribute to the man he was. An example of this was his devotion to his wife and to those who care for her. When visiting her at the Nursing Home it often took him 40-minutes to find his way to her room as he would stop and chat with the Staff and residents and always remembered to bring them a treat to brighten their day. This is who Gene was and will forever be remembered by those of us who loved him. He is survived by his wife, Mary; Stepdaughters (and spouses), Sheri Crider (Guy), Donna Davis (Jeff), Linda Steele (Timmy), and Stepson, Billy Howell (Tammy); Sons, Scott Brown and Mark Brown; sisters, Laura Lowery, Nell Phares, Helen Frazier, and brother, Donald Joe Brown. Gene was the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Lewis & Verna Robertson Brown; son, Anthony Ray Brown; sister, Lonieta Lowery and brothers, George Brown, Lonnie Brown, and Robert Brown. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 10:30 am in Quantico National Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent at www.mullinsthompsonstafford.com
