Amber Therese D’Angelo, 50, of Newport News, VA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 24, 2021.
She was born on September 9, 1970 in Hampton. She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Jimmie Foxx Kern and Loretta Nadine Kern of Toano; paternal grandfather, Donald B. Shortt of Hampton; uncles, Charlie “Bear” White of Richmond, and Pat Shortt of Gloucester; and cousin, Hannah Rose Rising of Mukilteo, WA. Amber is survived by her parents, Brenda and Mark Shortt; sister, Brandi D’Angelo of Toano; paternal grandmother, Regina Shortt of Yorktown; maternal aunts, Alice White of Richmond, and Dawn (Larry) Yeary of Chester; maternal uncles, Clifford Kern of Toano, and Eric Kern of Richmond; paternal uncle, Tim (Cindy) Shortt of Seaford; paternal aunts, Terry (Dean) Schap of Ponchatoula, LA, and Krissy (Andy) Williams of Portsmouth; and numerous cousins and close friends.
Amber’s family, friends, and her beloved dog, Coco, were the most important things in her life. She had the biggest heart of gold, a deep faith in God, and was protective of those she loved, especially her sister Brandi. Amber had a quick wit, beautiful laugh, and smile. She enjoyed connecting with her family and friends on social media, collecting Boyds Bears with her favorite bears coming from her Uncle Charlie every Christmas, and she was an artist. Amber was a fun loving person and despite her health challenges, made each day count.
Fly high, beautiful, Fly high. We love and miss you dearly.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, VA, 23666.
