Berkley E. "Buck" Hale
October 4, 1921 – April 27, 2021

Berkley E. (Buck) Hale, 99 ½ of Ashland, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Frances Loving and his son Berkley E. (Bucky) Hale, Jr. He is survived by two daughters, Betty Sue Martin (Roger) and Teresa Manahan (Harold); two grandchildren, Justin Manahan (Kristine) and Meredith Baugher (Chad); five great-grandchildren, Chloe, Caleb, Noah, Luke and Ella; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Goodman and Doris Tignor; and one brother-in-law, Herbert Loving, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Buck served in the Navy during World War II as a shipfitter first-class. He worked for Luck Motor Company before and after the war and started his own body shop, which he ran for many years. He was a long-time, active member of Slash Christian Church and a charter member of the Clay Springs Ruritan Club.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 6, at 3 p.m. at Signal Hill Memorial Park.
