Obituary of Shirley Marlene Sterling
Shirley M. Sterling, 79, went home to be with the Lord peacefully, surrounded by her family on Monday, May 31, 2021 at Reid Health in Richmond. Shirley was born to Vernon and Oleta Davis Wooley in College Corner, Ohio on September 18, 1941. She was a lifelong resident of Connersville working many years at Philco Ford until her retirement from Visteon. Shirley was a member of Connersville Baptist Temple, and later became a member of Garrison Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, shopping, traveling to Florida, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley was a wonderful Nanny to all of her grandchildren. She loved her family unconditionally, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Shirley is survived by her three sons and one daughter, William (Bill) Sterling and his wife Teresa, Ronald (Jeff) Sterling, Rick Sterling, Julie Fisher and husband Jef all of Connersville. She is survived by a sister Wanda Purcell of Richmond, In. She is survived by her grandchildren, Chris Sterling, Matt (Sarah) Sterling, Katie Sterling, Sarah (Brian) Nicholson, Amber (Ron) McQueary, Ricky Sterling, Kara (Matt) Tintsman, Ashlyn Sterling, Kenzie Gettinger, Jimmy Fisher, Katie Fisher, and Maddie Fisher. She is survived by great-grandchildren, Zoe Lohr, Dylan Marcum, Hunter Winters, Abby Winters, Chandler Crites (fiancé Kasey Vanhook), Isaiah Sterling, Cayden Sterling, Alyssa Nicholson, Adrianna Nicholson, Axton Tintsman and Xander McQueary. Shirley is also survived by a great-great grandchild Nevaeh Crites, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her son Michael Sterling, and her brother Buddy Wooley. Funeral services will be held at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel in Connersville on Friday June 4, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Pastor Chris Lovett from the Crosspointe Biker Church will preside. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Shirley.
