Col. James W. Pardew, Jr. (former U.S. Ambassador and Colonel Ret.) passed away on June 2, 2021 in Arlington, VA. He was born on February 5, 1944 in Memphis, TN to the late James and Frances Pardew. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; sons, Paul (Kelly), Jon (Leslie) and Dave Pardew; and six grandchildren. James greatest accomplishments were as an Ambassador at large in Bulgaria. He was the involved in negotiating the Ohrid Agreement in Macedonia ('01), and was formerly Chief of the Balkan Force in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. He was involved in the US mission that brought peace to Bosnia ('95) and to Kosovo ('99). Prior to his distinguished diplomatic career, he spent over 27 years in the United States Army as an intelligence officer retiring as a Colonel ('94). His combat tours included service in Vietnam from '68 to '69 and in Somalia ('93). He is the author of the book, "Peacemakers: American Leadership and the End of Genocide in the Balkans". The burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on July 19, 2021.
