Leonard Eugene Glenn

Leonard went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 25, 2021. He married Darlene Anderson on July 17, 1955. They were blessed with 4 Wonderful children, Tyler (Lisa), Terri, (Mitch, Deceased), Todd (Mary), Leesburg, Indiana, and Tish (Bryce). His third “son”, Steven Dokken, is also one of his favorite people in the world. Steven was there for Leonard whenever he needed anything. He had 10 Grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. He loved being a grandfather and called all of his granddaughters his “girlfriends”. Leonard was born in Campbellsville, Kentucky to Mossie (Helm), and Lester Glenn. He had 7 siblings, Geneva Young, Lester Jr., Ray, Richard, Carol Cloud and Pam, all deceased and Bob Glenn, Lafayette, In. He was baptized in 1957 at the Indianapolis Baptist Temple. He and Darlene spent winters in Naples, FL at their condo where he served as President of the Board for many years. Leonard proudly served in the Navy as a Sonar man aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. Pritchett. He was a Korean War Veteran and a true Patriot - even in his advanced years he found great joy visiting Washington DC and it’s monuments on an “Honor Flight”. Where he had the pleasure of meeting Senator Bob Dole. That trip was made more special as he was accompanied by his eldest son Tyler. The last 20 years he worked for Ruan Leasing Co. as a member of the Management Team. Those clients who had the privilege of working with Leonard experienced the loyalty and friendship he offered and often stated that Leonard treated them like family. He loved the trucking business and made many lifetime friends. Prior to Ruan he drove a semi truck for Sinclair Refining Co., later named Atlantic Richfield. He loved his work in the trucking business. He loved coaching little league and lead several teams to championship positions. Later on, he coached his daughter ‘s Soccer teams. In fact, after his children were not playing, Leonard gave back to the community by continuing to coach Little League Teams at Forest Manor. Leonard was passionate about the Indy 500, and was involved with the Menard-Glidden Racing Team by managing their hospitality suite every year. He loved this time of his life. Selling Indy 500 race tickets was one of his favorite things to do every May and he was the best in the business. Leonard knew the track seating like no one else and had many loyal customers. Leonard also loved fishing for bass. He enjoyed fishing the St John’s river in Florida. One of his highlights while fishing in Florida was catching a giant Tarpon fish. However, his favorite spot was a pond in the back yard of his son Todd in Warsaw, Indiana. In later years when his health was not good, he loved going to the casino and playing slots. No one was as lucky as Leonard. However, he viewed his greatest luck as the love of a wonderful wife and fabulous children. Its impossible to sum up this larger than life man in just a few words. He was complicated and amazing. One word that describes him best though is “Giving”. He gave of himself to everyone , family and strangers alike. He was always willing to lend a hand or help someone in need. He showed God's love by his many acts of kindness. He had a heart of gold and was the “rock” of our family and we will miss him terribly. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N. Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis, Indiana with burial in Washington Park East Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Memorial Honor Guard and the United States Navy. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Mortuary.
