Marvin D. "Don" Staley

Marvin D. “Don” Staley, 94 of Huntington passed away on July 11, 2021 at Heritage Pointe of Huntington. Marvin was a 1945 graduate of Clay City High School in Clay County, Indiana. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1945 – 1947, being stationed in Italy. He worked at Studebaker, Coachman RV, DX/Sunoco/Sun Oil and Pulley-Kellham, retiring in 1990. Marvin was a member of Northview Church of Christ and helped start the church in the mid 1970’s where he served as an Elder and Sunday school teacher. Most recently he was a member of Markle Church of Christ and served as a greeter for many years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Marvin enjoyed spending time with his buddies at McDonalds in Huntington over the last several years. He liked to fish and enjoyed mowing and working around the house. Marvin was born on September 19, 1926 in Clay County, Indiana, the son of the late Charles and Hester (Kendall) Staley. He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Whittaker on November 24, 1948 in South Bend. Barbara preceded him in death on February 14, 1999. Survivors include three sons: Bob (Jenny) Staley of Fort Wayne, Jack (Carole) Staley of St. Augustine, FL, Roger (Sheila Christen) Staley of Huntington; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Rex Staley, Manford Staley, Chester Staley and a sister: Magdalena Brandt. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. We will be following the CDC’s and Indiana’s guidelines. Funeral will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Blake Caley officiating. Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington. Memorial donations can be made out to Northview Church of Christ or Markle Church of Christ both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
