Rose E. Simpson

Rose Elizabeth Simpson, age 95, of Ashland, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. Rose was born on April 21, 1926 to the late Jess Davis and Beatrice Tudor Davis in Lancaster, Kentucky. She spent many years living in Cincinnati, Ohio before moving to Ashland in 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Leonard G. Simpson; and 3 brothers, Rowland Davis, Leonard Davis, and J.B. Davis. Rose and Leonard spent many weekends at car shows with their '66 Ford Mustang convertible. They also traveled the United States in their motor home. She worked on the assembly line during World War II and later worked as a nurses' aid in Lexington, Kentucky. Rose spent her time caring for her home and family, who brought her the most happiness. She will be remembered for her tomato plants and roses. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Deborah Figley Smart; granddaughters, Robyn Figley (Mike Thomas), Erin Prince (Joseph), and Stacy Moore (D.J.); great-grandsons, Joseph "Joey" Prince, Slater Thomas, W. Cole Harris, N. Ryan Harris, and A. Braden "Brad" Harris; sister, Dessie L. Klette, of Alexandria, KY; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005. A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park, 11220 Nuckols Rd., Glen Allen, VA 23059.
