Melba C. Harper, 96 of Huntington passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Melba had worked as an inspector at E-System/Memcor in Huntington for 19 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of Women of the Moose Chapter 255 in Huntington.
Melba was born on September 27, 1924 in Huntington, the daughter of the late Orlando and Stella (Redding) Coolman.
She was united in marriage to Robert Harper on December 6, 1942 in Las Vegas. Robert preceded her in death on February 14, 2007.
Survivors include a son: Lonnie (Patricia) Harper of Fort Wayne; a daughter: Jo Elaine “Jody” (David) Hanson of Huntington; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Kay Oechsle, a brother and two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral service following visitation at 12:00 pm. We will be following the CDC’s and Indiana’s guidelines.
Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County.
Memorial donations can be made out to Huntington Senior Center in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
