Obituary of Robert Fulton Masbaum
Robert “Fulton” Masbaum beloved husband, father, son, and brother tragically left this earth to be joined with his departed loved ones in heaven. Fulton was named after Saint Archbishop Fulton Sheen. In his youth Fulton served as an altar boy during Latin Masses at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He enjoyed his time as a member of 4-H where he excelled at archery and sharpshooting. Fulton’s love of cars started at the tender age of two. His happiness was driving and “working” on his Red VW motorized Love Bug. Fulton later expanded his love of cars to include Harley’s. As a teenager Fulton’s auto mechanic passions were nurtured during the weekends shadowing Ronnie P. Phillips (who precedes him to our Heavenly Father). Fulton’s love and devotion for our country inspired him to enlist in the Indiana Army National Guard at the age of 17, departing for Basic Training the summer between his Junior and Senior year of High School. After graduating Westfield Highschool, he immediately left for his AIT training to become a 91Bravo Diesel Mechanic, where he was trained to work on, Hummvs, as he lovingly called them. Fulton’s 4-H training helped him receive numerous citations for his marksmanship during his service in the Army National Guard. After serving in the Army National Guard, Fulton became an ASE Certified Master Mechanic getting certified in countless areas. He lived his life doing what he loved, working on cars without rest. Fulton was fortunate and blessed to became part of the Pete’s Automotive family (Owners: IIya, Angela, and Eric Grabovsky and his shop mechanic brothers) where he last parked his toolbox shrine, working relentlessly to provide for his family. It was in this same spirit that he poured his love into everyone in his life. Fulton’s selfless love for his family and friends showed every day and was returned in kind. Fulton would give the shirt off his back if you needed it. He often stopped what he was doing to talk with and support his “little” brother Christian. He would spend countless hours counseling him, loving him, and showing him how to be a man! Always in his comings and goings Fulton was all hugs, he did not “do” handshakes. Fulton saved his biggest hugs for his father; Bob would tell Fulton he was a “man made of iron” because his hugs were so strong. When giving his big bear hugs, he would say loudly and proudly “Pops, I love you so much man!”. His father would squeeze back just as tight and with the warmth and love a dad could give in return all the while echoing the same words back. Fulton’s unbridled love for his mother was limitless. Fulton’s face beamed with excitement and happiness with every home-made dish that was prepared for him and his family. All mom’s dishes were baked with love that Fulton cherished, especially his birthday cakes. Fulton was never allowed to leave without containers of food only because momma bear was always trying to fatten him up. Fulton leaves behind his beloved little angelic boy Barrett “Baby Glock” and his spouse Sarah. Fulton would always make sure he was home at night in time to spend dinner with his family, help with the nightly bath and bed routines. He was a hands-on daddy who took his “Lil B” to the park having picnic lunches. Baby Glock aka “Lil B” is going miss his Daddy days more than any words will ever be able to express. Fulton was a country boy at heart, from listening to his country music to hunting, fishing, and swimming in the ocean and driving his Harley. He was a devout Christian Catholic who lived as Christ would want us all to live, always putting others before himself. He was a selfless loving son, brother, friend, father, and husband. He leaves behind his spouse Sarah (McPhearson), son Barrett, brother Christian, Father, mother, Grandparents Virginia and Richard Martinez, Uncles Michael (Sandra) Castellanos, Tony (Laurie) Castellanos, Jerry (Becky) Castellanos, Godparents Rudy & Pat Gonzales, Great Uncle Sidney and Great Aunt Irene Rivera, and countless other family members who loved him. He will be missed by his chosen brothers Jesse Hinshaw, Logan Flagg, and extended family IIya, Angela, and Eric Grabovsky and his shop brothers and fellow mechanics.
