Merritt L. Hethcote

Merritt L. Hethcote, 87 of Huntington passed away on November 6, 2021 at Heritage Pointe of Huntington. Merritt was a 1953 graduate of Andrews High School after the closing of Monument City. He retired from Fisher Body GM Plant after 42 years. He was a member of the GM Sympathy Club. Merritt had a passion for IU Basketball, he loved horses and cattle and loved spending time with his siblings. Merritt was born on April 15, 1934 in Huntington, the son of the late Hershel and Anna (Butler) Hethcote. Survivors include a son: Brad (Jennifer) Hethcote of Andrews; three daughters: Kristi (Randy) Young of North Manchester, Monica (Eric) Spurlock of Andrews, Brenda (Dave) Wood of Fort Wayne; a brother: Max (Luella) Hethcote of Mt. Etna; a sister: Janice (John) Kellam of Mt. Etna; a sister-in-law: Donna Hethcote of Goshen and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son: Jeff Hethcote; two daughters: Kelli Koontz, Tina Richardson; three brothers: Dee Hethcote, Merrill Hethcote, Junior Hethcote; three sisters: Melba Milar, Annabelle Friend and Arleas Jean Drabenstot. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral service following visitation at 12:00 pm. Interment will be at the Lancaster Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made out to the donor’s choice of charity in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
