Charles Raye Marshall (Bubba), 67, died unexpectedly but peacefully in his home in Poquoson on Sunday, November 14, 2021. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Four Seasons Apartment. Bubba was a kind, generous man who loved everyone. A very social man who had many friends, young and old. He was devoted to his family as a caretaker, especially for his grandfather, his mother and father. Bubba was known as a jokester with a huge sense of humor. He loved God and was a Christian. He loved to cook and made the best seven-layer cakes in many flavors. Lemon was his specialty. He loved collecting antiques and shopping. He loved music, especially gospel hymns. He was so close to his family and was there for us all. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. Marshall Jr. and Sarah Elizabeth Marshall; one sister, Carolyn Adkins; his beloved grandparents; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his sisters, Amelia M. Insley and husband Mike, Glenda M. Dryden and husband Mike; one brother-in-law, Larry D. Adkins; his nephews, Mike Insley Jr. and wife Gloria, Charles Darren Insley and companion Tammy, Keith Adkins and wife Jocelyn, Robert W. Gernert Jr. and wife Erica, Charles D. Gernert and wife Geneva; and his nieces, Lisa I. Brogden and husband David and Sarah-Marie Ross and husband Kyle. Bubba is also survived by 13 great nephews and nieces and 11 great-great nephews and nieces. He had many special cousins and special friends. Please know that if you knew Bubba, then you knew a true friend. He was a loving soul. The family will be gathering and receiving friends anytime to visit the home of Amelia and Mike at 147 Bennett Road, Poquoson.
