Yolanda Jean “Pepsi” Lee, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. Jean was born March 11, 1936 in Youngstown, Ohio. She was the youngest of the nine children, seven girls and two boys, of John and Lucia (Pezzente) LaVolpe. Jean attended Wilson High School and Kent State University. In her 20s, she moved to Washington, DC where she taught middle school math. It was in Washington, DC that Jean met the man who would become her husband, Frank D. Lee, Sr. They went on to be married and to have five children. Over the course of their life together, they moved to New Jersey, Chicago, San Diego, and finally settled in for the long-term in Williamsburg, VA. However, it was in Washington, DC that Jean became an avid fan of the Washington Football Team (formerly known as the Washington Redskins). Jean will always be lovingly remembered by her five children, Audra, Danielle (David), Frank (Carrie), Matthew (Julie), and Michael; five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Tredon), Alicia, Meredith, Gemma and Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Journee, Sienna and Melody; her sisters, Connie, Eleanor and Jenny; her niece, Andrea; and many other nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband Frank; and siblings, Nicolas, Mary, Carmela, Antonette, and Carl. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, 1:00 PM at Nelsen Williamsburg, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. In lieu of flowers, gifts of remembrance may be made to Saint Bede Catholic Church (www.bedeva.org) or to The American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
