William Martin Snovell Sr.

William Martin Snovell Sr., age 93, passed away suddenly on November 18, 2021, in Williamsburg Virginia. Born on February 19, 1929, during the Great Depression, Bill was an original “latch key kid,” who at four years old, shared his singing abilities with the local practicing church choir down the street from his boyhood home in Baltimore. They would pay him a quarter to go away—big money then, so he went by often. Bill was the second son of Jeanette Silverman and Theodore K. Snovell, Sr. and the brother of Theodore K. Snovell Jr., all from Baltimore Maryland, all deceased. He is also proceeded in death by his wife of 70 years Bernadette Connelly Snovell, and son William Martin Snovell Jr. (Courtenay). Bernadette and Bill Sr. also have three surviving children: Andrew (Sherri,) Donald, and Marian, and grandsons Zachary and Jordan, a great granddaughter Rylan, his brother-in-law Louis Cassard, and nieces and nephews. He attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and was in the Army Reserves after high school. He attended Loyola College in Baltimore, and Chicago. Bill and Bernadette made homes for their family in Baltimore MD., Oak Park, ILL., Newport News and Richmond Va., and Kitty Hawk NC, making Williamsburg Va. their home for the last 20 years. Bill will be missed by his family and friends. Services will be a private ceremony celebrating his life at a date and time to be determined.
