Al graduated from Tell City High School (lettering in all sports) in 1951 and from Evansville College in 1955 (playing basketball for the Purple Aces) while earning a Master’s Degree from Indiana University. After graduating, he embarked on a 35-year teaching career, where he taught and coached at Plaza Park Grade School for 18 years before finishing his teaching career at North and Central High Schools. Besides being a committed husband, father, and grandfather, he will also be remembered by the many students and friends whose lives were inevitably impacted by his dedication, hard work, and sincerity.
In addition to his wife and children, Al is survived by nine adoring grandchildren, Gene “Tony”, Krystal, Taylor, Kelsey, Lauren, Will, Molly, Claudia, and Meredith and was a proud great grandfather of six great grandchildren.
The family will have a celebration of life at a destination and time to be decided later.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a charitable donation to The Dream Center, a 501C charity for underprivileged children in Evansville which was founded by one of his early grade school students, Gary Jossa.
