Andrew 'Andy' Horvath, 90; Purple Heart, Bronze Stars and the Bronze Arrowhead recipient
Funeral services for Andrew "Andy" Horvath, 90, of New Albany, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Monday, March 1, 2010, at his home. He was born Feb. 7, 1920, in Irvin, Pa., to the late George and Marie Horvath. He retired in 1982 as a chemical operator for B.F. Goodrich Company in Louisville. He served his country in the Army 751st Tank Battalion in both the European and African Theaters of World War II . He was decorated with the Purple Heart, 5 Bronze Stars and the Bronze Arrowhead. He was a member of the Floyd County Post 3281 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church in New Albany.Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Etta R. Helton Horvath; a son, Mike G. Horvath and his wife, Kimberle, of Floyds Knobs; two daughters, Donna R. Salas and husband, Robert and E. Lucille Horvath, both Louisville; a sister, Francis Kovarik, of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Joseph, Lorri, Kaitlin and Hillary; and five great-grandchildren.Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after noon Thursday.
