Jerry R. Barning
December 15, 1934 – March 23, 2010

Jerry R. Barning, 75, of Columbus, died at 3:04 p.m. Tuesday March 23, 2010, at Kindred Hospital Greenwood.
Mr. Barning was a design engineer for Cummins Engine Co. from 1968 to 1995. He was a graduate of Evansville Reitz High School, earned a degree in mechanical engineer from Purdue University, and a master's degree in business administration from Indiana University.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Dr. Al Styron Jr. officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Post-Polio Health International or the Jerry Barning Scholarship Fund at Evansville University in care of the funeral home.

Born Dec. 15, 1934, in Evansville, Mr. Barning was the son of Carl and Elsie Sieler Barning. He married Gayle O. Jackson Sept. 1, 1957, in Evansville. She preceded him in death May 2, 1995.
Surviving are daughters, Sheryl Anne Barning of Tampa, FL, Kimberly Sue (Tom) Norton of Greenwood, Christi Lynn (Kevin) Bailey of Indianapolis and Cammie Christene (Andy) Breitenmoser of Franklin; and granddaughters, Carly Christene Fudge of Greenwood and Andrea Gayle Breitenmoser of Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and brothers, Phillip and David Barning
