Irvin Lynnwood Bodkin

Irvin Lynnwood Bodkin, 85, of Harrisonburg, passed away on January 22, 2011 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 5, 1925 in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Howard Coakley and Mae Bodkin.
Irvin attended Harrisonburg High school and served in the US Navy during WWII. He was employed with DuPont in Waynesboro before retiring and after retiring he enjoyed woodworking and craft shows. He was an avid bow hunter and enjoyed bow hunting; he was a charter member of the Bow Hunters of Rockingham. He was also a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and Gooden Brothers VFW Post #9292.
On May 3, 1947 he married Margaret Kathleen Kibler who preceded him in death on December 20, 2000.
He is survived by two sons, Terry Lynn Bodkin and wife, Connie L. Thompson-Bodkin of Virginia Beach, Robin Eric Bodkin of Harrisonburg, a daughter, Susan Bodkin Robinson and husband, Nelson of Harrisonburg; two sisters, Joyce Logan and Doris Sites both of Harrisonburg. A sister, Gladys Pace preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends 7-8 pm, Tuesday evening, January 25, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, or anytime at his residence.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 26, in the Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Glen Langston officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad or the National Kidney Foundation.
