Bettye J Sherlock Barkmann

Bettye J. (Sherlock) Barkmann, 82, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at Evansville Protestant Home. She was born in Evansville on September 1, 1929 to the late John and Eula Sherlock. Bettye was an active member of St. Lucas UCC where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was chairman of the Board of Education and Evangelism Committee. Bettye was a member and past president of the church council. She was also a Girl Scout leader. Bettye is survived by her husband, Fred Barkmann; daughters, Rebecca (Chris) Watts of Lexington, KY. and Gail (Darwin) Lashley; grandchildren, Tracy (Steven) Tolliver, Mark Watts, Gary Lashley, and Amanda (Aaron) Moyer; brother, Robert (Connie) Sherlock of Columbus, IN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, September 12, 2011 at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Rev. Lynn Martin with burial at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the personnel at Deaconess Hospice and Evansville Protestant Home for the loving care extended to her. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Lucas UCC.
