John E. “Elvis” Capps, 66, of Reelsville passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012. He was born on March 24, 1945 in Hendricks County to Elmer L. Capps and Clonia P. Spear Capps.
Johnny had worked at Area 30 and was a retired roofer. He was a former member of the Knightsville Masonic Lodge #409.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Junior Ray and Billy Capps and a sister Versa Lee Capps.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Artava E. Capps; three children, Christene Keith and husband John of Greencastle, John E. Capps, Jr. of Reelsville and Sarah A. Capps of Reelsville and companion Scott Bunten of Belle Union; siblings, Ersia Jane Houser of Veedersburg, Elvin L. Capps and wife Kathy of Greencastle, Robert W. Capps and wife Evelyn of Coal City, Venie R. Sexton of IL, Martha L. Davis of TN, Judy Ann York and husband Richard of Greencastle, Gilbert D. Capps and wife Maryann of Greencastle, Anna M. Strauser and husband Ken of Linton, Ruthann Williams of Greencastle, Edward L. Capps and wife Mabele of Cunot and Raymond j. Capps and wife Cathy of Greencastle; 6 grandchildren and 6-great-grandchildren.
