Obituary of Donna Kaye Maria Tidrow Cridlin
Donna Kaye Maria Cridlin age 77 died peacefully at her home in Brown County on Monday, April 30. Born March 5, 1935 in San Diego, CA., to Dan & Sheila Irma Tidrow, she attended Herbert Hoover High School, & graduated in 1953. Donna married Fred D. Cridlin of Leona Mines, VA. On February 3, 1961 in a civil service in San Diego. She lived in San Diego, Indianapolis, & moved to Brown County in 1971. Prior to marriage Donna attended San Diego State University & worked as an insurance adjuster for Traveler’s Insurance in California. After she married, she worked primarily as a homemaker, but held several volunteer & community offices as well. Donna & Fred had a family farm on Lick Creek Road where they raised cattle & swine. She was a member & president of Cottonwood Homemakers Assoc. she was leader of 4-H Club the Lick Creek Love Bugs & an active 4-H Open Class Fashion Review participant for many years. She was a teacher’s aide at Helmsburg Elementary School where she helped with reading skills. She was a member of the Helmsburg Parent Teacher Assoc. & was active in school fundraisers & activities. Donna was elected to the office of Jackson Twp. Trustee which she held for four years. In 1981 she & Fred purchased Lawson’s Market & renamed it Need More Grocery. She sold food, snacks, sundries, & bait & provided free entertainment at the store until her retirement in 2006. Donna was an accomplished seamstress & fiber artist. She was a gifted speaker & storyteller & was commemorated on several occasions for her adventures & antics by the late Larry Incollingo of the Bloomington Herald Times & in his short stories. Survivors include her husband, Fred, son, David Cridlin, & daughter, Sheila Blake all of Nashville. Her grandchildren, Dayna Lance, Julita Cridlin, Shelby Blake, & David Scott Cridlin, Jr. Donna was expecting her first great grandchild, David Alan Garrison, III, “Trey” in June. Donna was preceded in death by her parents & her sister BeBe Crow of San Diego. Donna was a member of Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville. Services will be held Friday, May 4 at 11:00 A. M. at Saint Agnes Catholic Church, 1008 McClary Road, Nashville. Burial will follow at Weeping Willow Cemetery, Beanblossom. Relatives & friends are welcome to visit the family at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, Nashville on Thursday, May 3 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions are welcome at, Alzheimer’s Assoc., P.O.
