Diana R. Cabell
STAUNTON — A resident of Staunton for 50 years, as well as a resident of Sea Pine Plantation in Hilton Head, S.C. for 10 years.
She was born in Clarksburg, W.Va., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Rede and the wife of Mayo Cabell.
Surviving are her daughters, Carol Meinert of Evergreen, CO, Catherine Flaherty of Crozet and Diana Weir of San Francisco, CA; two grandsons, Austin and Will Meinert; a sister, Carol Knott of Chicago; a step-son, Bruce Cabell and his two children, Anne and Todd Cabell.
Mrs. Cabell attended Mary Baldwin College and graduated with the class of 1956 with a BA degree in English.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Staunton, VA. and St. Lukes Epsicopal Chuch on Hilton Head Island.
She was an English teacher for Staunton Public Schools. She was formerly a member of Augusta Garden Club and Garden Club of America.
She was a member of Colonial Dames of America, as well as signers of the Declaration of Independence, descended from George Read of Delaware.
A memorial service will be conducted at Trinity Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24.
Memorials made to Mary Baldwin College or Staunton Public Library in lieu of flowers.
