Barbara J. Alford, 86, of Connersville, went to be with the Lord, Friday afternoon, September 7, 2012, at Reid Hospital, Richmond.
Barbara was born in Franklin County, October 6, 1925 to Wade and Gladys McFarland Reese. She had been employed at Stant Manufacturing and had worked at Hickory Lane Smorgasbord. She was a member of the Centerville Christian Church. Barbara enjoyed her time with her children and grandchildren. She liked to go camping and enjoyed her time in Florida during winter. In her leisure, she worked crossword puzzles, watched movies and enjoyed walking.
Barbara is survived by four children and their spouses: Donna J. Bowman Mahaffey and Michael of Connersville; Michael D. Alford and Donna of Loveland, Ohio; Sue Ann Patterson of The Villages, Florida, Barry Alford and Jean of Germantown, Ohio; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Donald C. Alford who died November 30, 1996; two infant children: Mark Alan and Tina Marie Alford; two sisters: Phyllis Senefeld and Norma Reese and a grandson: Rodney Patterson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Pastor John Reynolds of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel North Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 noon Monday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the Lord’s Table, 416 W. Western Avenue, Connersville, 47331.
