Elder Leonard Jackson Brammer
August 11, 1920 – November 10, 2012

Elder Leonard Jackson Brammer, age 92, of Vinton, and formerly of Henry County, died Saturday, November 10, 2012, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Patrick County August 11, 1920, he was a son of the late Jasper M. Brammer and Malinda Mize Brammer. Also preceding him in death was his wife of 71 years Violet Mae Spencer Brammer who died September 14, 2011, and a grandchild, Gerald R. Lemons. Elder Brammer was the last of seven siblings.
He began his ministry at Riverview Primitive Baptist Church, Bassett, in 1955, was ordained in 1956, and began his pastorate of Laurel Ridge Primitive Baptist Church where he was a member and served as pastor until the Lord called him home. He served six other churches over his ministry of 56 years. During this time he also worked at Fieldcrest Mills for 27 years.
Surviving are three daughters, Peggy B. Hill and her husband Carlton of Roanoke, Mary Ann Conner and her husband G. W. of Roanoke, Carol B. Lemons and her husband Roy of Salem, his son, Lloyd J. Brammer and his wife Dianna of Largo, FL, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with Elders Tim Crane and Sam Lilly officiating. Interment will follow in Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Laurel Ridge Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Mary Ann Conner, 3016 Bonsall Lane, Roanoke, VA 24014. The family would like to offer special thanks to the girls of Berkshire Health Care, Vinton.
