Obituary of Susan Pugh Neighbors
Susan Pugh Neighbors, 59, of Rustburg passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at her residence after a battle of over 4 years with breast cancer. Susan was born in January 4, 1953, in Washington, D.C. She was the daughter of Edna Talley Pugh currently of Lynchburg and the late Reginald Winston Pugh. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by the love of her life Deon Blaine Garren, Sr., formerly of North Myrtle Beach, SC. She is survived by one daughter, Sara Elizabeth Neighbors Sprague and husband Bret of Gastonia, NC; one son, Matthew David Neighbors an/d wife Wendy, of Gladys and one brother, David Winston Pugh, Sr. and wife Susan of Madison Heights. Susan leaves behind her two beloved granddaughters, Anna Elizabeth Sprague age 8 and Samantha Marie Sprague, age 5. She adored her granddaughters; they were the light of her life. She was employed in the hotel industry for almost 30 years and most recently employed with Centra Health for over 5 years. Susan was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joys were her family and her home. She took pride in making a house a home filled with love and happiness for everyone to enjoy. She loved making memories with her children and grandchildren. She stayed positive and hopeful during her illness. She was a courageous, strong, and beautiful woman, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Chaplin Randall Walton officiating. Interment will follow in the New Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.
