Obituary of Kathleen K. Krout Cummins
Kathleen K. Cummins, 93, of Fort Wayne, died on December 26, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston Salem, NC. Born in Fountain County, Indiana, June 20, 1919, to the late, Homer and Edith (nee. Allen) Krout. She was a very active member of Trinity English Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, for over 60 years, where she taught Sunday school, a member of Priscilla’s Circle, and was a deaconess for over 20 years. She married Robert E. Cummins on October 4, 1940, who also precedes her in death. A graduate of Indiana State University, she was a teacher for East Allen County Schools for 35 years, a recipient of the Retired Teacher of the Year Award, a member and past president of the Allen County Retired Educators Association, as well as a member of local and state retired educators associations. She was a member for over 50 years of the American Association of University Women and a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority for over 50 years where she served as president of the Alpha Psi Chapter. She was a past president for both the Barr Street Irregulars, a volunteer group for the History Center, and the Fortnightly Club. A member of the Fort Wayne Women’s Club, and the Who’s Who of American Women, she enjoyed being with friends in several bridge groups. She is survived by her son; Robert (Carol) Cummins Jr., of Clemmons, NC, grandchildren; Mischa M. Cummins, of Charlotte NC, Robert Sean Cummins, of Tuebingen, Gremany, and Kathleen A. Cummins, of Philadelphia, PA, and great-granddaughter; Grace Kathleen Cummins, of Charlotte, NC. She was also preceded in death by her brother; Raymond A. Krout. Funeral Service will be held at 12 P M, Saturday January 5, at Trinity English Lutheran Church, 405 W. Wayne Street, Fort Wayne, with calling from 10 to 12 prior to service at the church, with burial at Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne Street, Fort Wayne. Memorial donations may be given to Trinity English Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, or IRTA Scholarship Foundation
