David James Chambers
March 21, 1987 – January 16, 2013

Sgt. David James Chambers died on January 16, 2013 while on duty in the Panjwai District of Afghanistan. David was born and a native of Hampton, Virginia. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, under control of the 7th Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
David’s awards included the following: the Purple Heart, Army Achievement Medal with 3rd oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 1 campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Driver’s Badge.
Dave was preceded in death by his grandparents, David and Ada Mason and grandfather, James B. Chambers (Command Sergeant Major, Retired).
Dave is survived by his parents, Michael and Julie Chambers; brother, Steven Chambers and his wife Krisitina; grandparents, Dwight and Johanna Donovant; aunt ,Taffy O’Neil (Daniel); uncles, Terry Mason, Jack Mason, Phillip Mason (Tanya) and Bruce Chambers (Connie).
Visitation is Friday, January 25, 2013, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church, 501 Beach Road, Hampton VA 23664.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church, with burial at Clark’s Cemetery following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church, 501 Beach Road, Hampton VA 23664.
