Armand L. Baptista, 84, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the husband of the late Anna C. (Rebak) Baptista. Born in Taunton, he was educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School. He also was a graduate of UMass-Lowell. Mr. Baptista joined the Navy at the end of World War II and transferred to the U.S. Air Force before the Korean War. He retired after 20 years of service from the Air Force in 1969 at the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his retirement, he worked as a logistician for ESD in Hanscom for many years, retiring several years ago. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling, vacationing, walking, working around his yard and spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Capt. Armand L. Skip Baptista Jr., U.S. Navy retired, and his wife Lynne of Virginia, Claudia A. Nichols and her husband Derick of New Hampshire and John E. Baptista and his wife Jan of Georgia. He was the brother of Shirley Catalano of Stoughton and the late Vivien Hughes of New Hampshire, and Irene Daversa of Brockton. He was the grandfather of Andrew, Katherine and Nicole Baptista and Scott and Hannah Cleary. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
