Walter Lee Bradley Sr.

Rev. Walter Lee, Sr., 94 of Manakin-Sabot died peacefully while surrounded by his wife and children on Tuesday January 22, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Kathryn Bailey Bradley and his children and their spouses Kay, Terri Farmer (Berkwood) and Lee (Bromby) and grandchildren Bradley, Parker and Kole. Also survived by sister-in-law Jean Bradley, brother-in-law Rev. Rolen Bailey (Frances), nieces Linda Bradley, Catherine Harris, Patty Spragg, nephews Charlie Bradley, Jr. and John Bailey. His brothers Rev. Charlie H. Bradley, Sr. and Armstead Bradley preceded him in death. Mr. Bradley was a graduate of Highland Springs HS, University of Richmond and Union Theological Seminary. He spent his life serving others. He volunteered to serve in the US Army in WWII. He received his undergraduate degree and became a teacher and then assistant principal at Highland Springs Elementary. He then found his calling to the ministry. He served as associate pastor at Northminster Baptist Church, and as pastor of Dover Baptist Church and Haymarket Baptist Church. He served in many roles in denominational and community activities. Prior to marriage he traveled around the world exploring 5 of the 7 continents. His hobbies included golf (a charter member of Richmond Country Club), gardening, photography, travel, and spending time with his family. Education was a priority to Walter and his final desire was that in lieu of flowers, an educational scholarship fund be set up for Christian Kole Bradley, who lived with and thought of Walter as his dad. Essex Bank, Christian Kole Bradley Scholarship Acct #: 900061609. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7pm Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, 23229, where services will be held 10am Saturday, January 26, 2013. A luncheon will begin at 12:30pm at Antioch Baptist Church, 3638 Antioch Church Rd., Sandston, Va., followed by a graveside service at 2pm. Condolences may be made to woodyfuneralhomeparham.com.
