Obituary of Genevieve Groome
Genevieve Groome, 90, Kokomo, went to join the love of her life, William, on February 16, 2013. She was born November 18, 1922, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Nicholas and Anastasia (Wetek) Bagan. On April 13, 1944, she married William Groome Jr., and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2011. Genevieve’s greatest accomplishment was creating a loving home for her family. Her creative talents included gardening, sewing and designing. Her Christian values are reflected in the care given to her by her children. Her legacy of love will be continued through children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Genevieve’s greatest joy was watching her children become kind adults. She was an elegant lady and a true gentlewoman. She was active in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and school activities. She was also past president of Devon Woods Garden Club. She and husband Bill loved to travel around the world. She is survived by her children, Barbara Gene Warner, Margaret Anne (Vern) Emery, William C. (Mary) Groome III, Sharon Rose Groome, and Daniel L. (Mary Crume) Groome, all of Kokomo, and Thomas A. (Mary-Therese) Groome, Vero Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Genny Weaver, Robert Warner, Lara Arroyo, Jason Emery, Chris Groome, Brian Groome, Julie Castorena, Michael Pfeiffer, Molly Groome, Nickolas Groome, Justin Groome, Sarah Groome, Jonathan Groome, Allie Gammans, and Stephanie Crume; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Weaver, Bailey Weaver, Cassidy Kepler, Van Warner, Delaney Arroyo, Lukas Emery, Dominick Castorena, Kelvin Groome, Konner Groome, Kohle Groome, Chelsea Groome, and Preston Clark. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Eric and Michael Groome; one great-grandchild, Avery Groome; three brothers, Stanley Bagan, Andrew Bagan, and John Bagan; and four sisters, Mildred Stecko, Anne Evanwick, Josephine Covall, and Mary Cox. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joan of Arc with Father David Huemmer officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
