Obituary of William "Bill" V. Boring
William “Bill” V. Boring, 84, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Deaconess. He was born January 14, 1929, in Detroit, MI to the late Vernon and Ida (Wright) Boring. He seldom said “I Love You” in words we can recall. He felt it not the manly thing to do at all, deep within our hearts, we know that love was really there, his eyes, his touch, the things he did all told us that it’s true. And now it’s time to say “Goodbye” to father, to grandfather, to friend. Sweet memories and love remain of him, ones that will not end. Bill was an Army Korean War Veteran of the 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment, serving in the 11th Airborne Division. He was a member of the Elite Rakkasans Unit from 1948-1952 and a recipient of a Purple Heart, a Korean Service Medal with Arrowhead, a UN Service Medal, an Occupation Medal (Japan) and five Bronze Service Stars. He was also a member of the Masons and was a Shriner, at one time serving as President of the Shriners Oriental Band. He was a Kentucky Colonel, member of VFW 1114 and American Legion Funk Houser Post 8. He swore to Bunker Hill and was a charter member of Amvets Post 84. Bill enjoyed putting together train sets, collecting political buttons, was an avid baseball card collector and a fan of crossword puzzles. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jenny; daughter, Cindy; grandson, Allen Boring, Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Zoller. Bill is survived by his sons, Allen (Mary), Bill Jr., and Bob (Amy) Boring, all of Evansville; daughters, Barb (Nick) Morrow of Las Vegas, NV and Denise (Randy) Ashby of Evansville; grandchildren, Ben (Christie) Boring, Jeffrey Sapp, Jonathan Boring, Scott Barnes of Orlando, FL, Jennifer (Mark) Zoller of Las Vegas, NV, Matt Macken, Brittany Ashby Barnard, Michelle (Chris) Hamer, Brady and Anna Boring; great-grandchildren, Amber Zagrodzki of Colorado, Michael Boring, Courtney Boring, Justin Sapp, Jade Boring, Brittany Sapp, Trinidy Boring, Preston Kyle Barnard, Bella and Cruz Zoller, Brady Hamer; and many loving nieces and nephews. Friends may visit Friday, March 15, 2013, at Alexander West Chapel from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. The Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial will conduct a military service at 7:00 PM.
