Robert D. Rowe

Robert Dean Rowe of Fort Wayne passed away on March 25, 2013 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home. He was born on January 23, 1930 in Huntington. He graduated from Huntington High School and Indiana University as a Sigma Chi, serving as president his senior year. He served our country in the U.S. Navy and Air Force aboard the USS Hawk based out of New Orleans, he was wounded in the shoulder aboard ship by friendly fire. He was employed by Brown Shoe Company out of Chicago and Indianapolis. Owner of family businesses; Metoliod Oil in Huntington and then traffic manager for Union Oil in Los Angeles. Returning to Huntington as owner and manager of Brown & Rowe Shoe businesses and overseeing Rowe Industries after his father passed away. At that time Bob was involved in Dan Quayles congressional campaign and senate campaign, managing Quayle/Lugar office in Fort Wayne and then V.P. at Quayles office in Indianapolis. He was currently employed as a real estate broker with Coldwell Banker Roth Werly Graber in the Coventry office. He had a great zest for life and will to golf at the Fort Wayne Country Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Velma and Elmer Rowe and survived by his wife of 47 years of marriage: Bette Sue Rowe.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at The Chapel, 2505 W. Hamilton Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 29, 2013 following visitation at 5:00 pm at The Chapel, 2505 W. Hamilton Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana with Pastor Rick Hawks officiating.
Entombment will take place at a later date at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
Memorial donations may be made out to The Chapel or Huntington Humane Society or to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home all in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
