Obituary of Page Hamilton Sutherland
Page Hamilton Sutherland, 80, passed away April 3, 2013. He was born to the late Alban and Virginia Sutherland on September 29, 1932 in Petersburg, VA. He spent his youth in Sutherland and Petersburg, VA. Page attended Petersburg High School, Saint Christopher’s School and Majored in History at the University of Virginia. He was a US Army Veteran. Page was Regional Director of the Tobacco Institute and after retiring he was a Government Affairs consultant for Philip Morris USA. Page was a former Chairman of Trinity Episcopal School, past President National Tobacco Festival, Board member Tobacco/ Textile Museum, past Chairman Richmond on the James, Board member Historical Richmond Foundation, past member of the Board of Virginia Athletics Foundation, UVA, past President of Richmond Gentry, former member Richmond Rotary Club, member of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, The Virginia Historical Society and numerous other Foundations. Page is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Barbara Lee (Bobbie Lee) Norris Sutherland, his children; Barbara Page Sutherland Gaylor and husband Steven Allen, Elizabeth Norris Sutherland Kennon and husband Richard Randolph Kennon, Jr. grandchildren Richard Randolph Kennon, III (Ranny), Lee Hamilton Kennon, Sarah Page Kennon, brother in-law Robert William Norris, Jr and wife Faith and numerous cousins. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00pm at the Woody funeral home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Richmond, VA. The funeral service will be held at River Road Presbyterian Church on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 11:00am with interment following at Westhampton Memorial Park, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite Animal Rescue organization or the Virginia Historical Society.
